Yorkshire Live reporter moves to Daily Mirror lifestyle role

The reporter has left the regional news website to take up a lifestyle writing role with a national daily.

Amber O’Connor has announced her departure from Yorkshire Live in order to join its Reach plc stablemate the Daily Mirror.

Amber, pictured, trained at the University of Sheffield and has covered Sheffield and Barnsley news for Yorkshire Live over the past 10 months.

She has also reported on Sheffield’s arts scene for the site.

Announcing her move on Twitter, Amber wrote: “I’m delighted to say I’ve joined the Daily Mirror as a lifestyle writer.

“I’m over the moon – what a dream to cover the heartwarming and funny news that brings a smile to people’s faces.”

She added she had spent a “wonderful year” at Yorkshire Live and paid tribute to Yorkshire Live editor Wayne Ankers, head of news Faye Preston and Reach’s what’s on editor Craig Jones.

Amber wrote: “It was a joy to work as a reporter in Sheffield, the place I chose as home. Working alongside Wayne Ankers, Faye Preston and their brilliant team was an invalid experience.

“Covering the city’s thriving art scene was a particular highlight – thanks to Craig Jones.

“Leaving Yorkshire after five years has proved incredibly emotional, but it will always have a special place in my heart.”
