West University Place Police Department weekly report

An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in reference to a forgery that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect forged and cashed the victims check without permission.

An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Arnold. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

April 22

An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Robinhood for a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect (s) took property from the victim’s home without consent.

An officer was dispatched to the 3000 block of Nottingham in reference to Found Property. Upon arrival, the officer took custody of the item for safe keeping.

An officer was dispatched to the 3900 block of Swarthmore for a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect (s) took property from the victim’s vehicle without consent.

An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

April 23

An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of University Blvd. in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to open an account without consent

An officer was dispatched to the 2800 block of Bissonnet in regards to a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect entered an unsecured vehicle and took items without consent.

An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Northwestern. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

April 24

The virtual gate systems alerted an officer to a vehicle, in connections with a crime in the city, traveling in the 3700 block of Bissonnet. A traffic stop was completed on the vehicle in the 5200 block of buffalo speedway. Through investigation it was discovered the suspect driving the vehicle had outstanding warrants and provided police false identification. The driver (Ismail Mustafa Rahman) was taken in to custody and charged with fail to ID- fugitive. The driver obtained additional charges for burglary of a motor vehicle after further investigation was conducted. The driver does have a criminal history for Theft x4; Trespass; Evading; Assault of a Family Member; Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; DWI; Possession of a controlled substance; Fraud; and Burglary of a building.

April 25

An officer was dispatched to the 5900 block of Lake in regards to an animal bite incident that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered the victim, who was riding a bike, was bit in the leg by a dog. The owner of the dog was given a citation.

April 26

An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Coleridge for a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect (s), posing at a utility company, scammed the victim out of money over the phone.

April 27

An officer was dispatched to the 3000 block of Cason in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to open a loan without consent.

An officer was performing a traffic stop in the 4300 block of Bissonnet. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

April 28

An officer performed a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Bissonnet. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An officer observed a vehicle traveling east on the 4000 block of Bissonnet and then on the 5500 block of Wesleyan failing to stop at a red light. The officer activated their emergency lights and the vehicle failed to stop. A pursuit was initiated, but was quickly ended after officers lost sight of the vehicle.

April 29

An officer was dispatched to the 2800 block of Wroxton in reference to an identity theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect gained access to the victim’s identity and used their personal information to claim government information without consent

An officer performed a traffic stop in the 3600 block of University. During the traffic stop, it was discovered the suspect was in possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Arnold for a burglary of a residence that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown suspect (s) forced entry into the victim’s residence taking the victims items without permission.

The virtual gate systems alerted an officer to a vehicle, in connection to a stolen plate, traveling in the 4200 block of Bissonnet. The vehicle was located and a high risk traffic stop was completed on the vehicle in the 3900 block of Bellaire. Upon contact with the suspects, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen and all occupants were detained. A search of the vehicle was conducted resulting in the discovery of drugs and personal documents containing identifying information. The driver Foxy Smith was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and fraudulent use of identifying information. The Driver has previous history for: Public lewdness; Possession of a controlled substance x2; Possession of marijuana; False report to a police officer; Aggravated assault with deadly weapon; and Fraud. The passenger Braid Patton was charged with fraudulent use of identifying information. The passenger has previous charges for: Possession of marijuana; Theft x2; Burglary of a habitation; Evading; and Possession of a controlled substance.

April 30

An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Arnold for a theft of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an unknown person (s) took the victims vehicle without consent.

An officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Browning for a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect (s) took packages from the front door of a residence without consent.

May 1

An officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of University for a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown suspect (s) took an item from the front door of a residence without consent.

An officer was dispatched to the 3300 block of Tangley in regards to an Assault that already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered an individual walking their dog and was assaulted by an unknown suspect who fled the scene.

May 3

An officer was dispatched to the 5600 block of Auden for a suspicious circumstance that had already occurred. Upon arrival, it was discovered that there were discarded packages that had been rummaged through.

An officer was dispatched to the West University Police lobby in regards to a Harassment case. The officer collected the necessary information to obtain a warrant on the suspect. A warrant was obtained and executed, the suspect, James Davet, was taken into custody without incident. The suspect has no criminal history.

An officer was alerted to a virtual gate hit in regards to a vehicle, in connection to a burglary of a motor vehicle case, traveling in the area. The officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 4200 block of Bellaire. Upon contact with the driver a smell of Marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. All occupants were detained. A probable cause search was conducted resulting in the discovery of backpacks full of electronics, burglary tools, and documents containing personal information. Upon investigation it was discovered that the electronics and the documents containing personal information were in connection to multiple burglaries of a motor vehicle occurring minutes before West U PD conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, Ryan Dewayne Smith, was taken into custody for Theft and Fraudulent possession of identifying information. The driver also had 9 outstanding warrants. The driver has previous history for: Identifying Information; Engaging in Organized Crime; Terroristic Threat Family/Household; Harassment; Burglary of Motor Vehicle; Possession of Criminal Instrument; Unlawful Carry of Weapon; Possession of Marijuana; Theft; Fraud/Possession of Identifying Information; Aggregated Robbery- Deadly Weapon; and Evading Arrest. Passenger #1, Jamarcus Burr, was taken into custody for 12 outstanding warrants with various agencies. Jamarcus Burr’s criminal history consists of: Assault- Family Member; Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity; Evading Arrest X4; Possession of Criminal Instruments; Possession of Controlled Substance X3; Burglary of a Habitation; Trespass X2; Possession or Marijuana X2; and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Passenger #2 of the vehicle was released from and the scene, but does possess criminal history for Theft and Tampering with Evidence.
