Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said that Sanskrit universities will move towards multidisciplinary institutions of higher learning.
The Union Minister was speaking on the final day of the Utkarsh Mahotsav organized a three-day event at the Central Sanskrit University.
“As envisaged in the new National Education Policy (NEP), the government has given importance to all Indian languages, including Sanskrit. It has made a great contribution to unifying various Indian languages and Sanskrit universities will move towards large multidisciplinary institutions of higher learning. , “Pradhan said.
The event was held to promote Sanskrit language across the country and beyond with the theme being “New Educational Era” moving towards a global orientation of Sanskrit studies.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan also said that Sanskrit was not just a language, it was an emotion. “Our knowledge and wisdom are our wealth. The onus is on all of us to take our civilization forward and achieve the ideals of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ “, he added.

He also added that Sanskrit education will create more employment opportunities for students.
“From the time of Hiuen Tsang to today’s Raisina Dialogues, the spontaneity, modernity and scientificity of Sanskrit need no proof. I hope that the deliberations held during ‘Utkarsh Mahotsav’ will show the roadmap for the education system of the 21st century to make India self-reliant and pave the way for global welfare, “he added.
The Union Minister also shared his thoughts on the revival of the language of Vedas ie Sanskrit, Indianness associated with Sanskrit and the language-based education system.

Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of UGC; Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi; Vice Chancellor, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, Prof. Murlimanohar Pathak and Vice Chancellors of 17 Sanskrit Universities, Scholars and Students participated in the event.
