Pakatan is to be blamed for current transportation issues, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The transportation issues affecting commuters are currently being brought on by the ineffective administration of the then Pakatan Harapan government, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister discussed several issues related to traffic congestion in Kuala Lumpur, the public transport service including the bus, LRT, MRT, monorail and KTM komuter in his interview at Studio Radio 988.

He also touched on Phase 1 of the MRT2 project for the Putrajaya Line which started operations on June 16, as well as the development of the work progress for the second phase which he said has reached 98.3% and is expected to be fully operational in Jan 2023.

“I also explained the work progress of the ECRL (East Coast Rail Link) project and its impact on traffic congestion once the project is ready, the implementation of the LRT3 project, as well as its implications after Pakatan slashed the number of stations and reduced the number of train coaches from six to three, have also affected passenger load during peak hours, ”he said.

“Pakatan’s administration which was inefficient, impractical, regressive in thinking and (its) political vengeance have caused people to suffer, especially users of public transport who had to bear the consequences,” he added.

Dr Wee added that the MRT 3 project, which was being tendered right now, was required to ensure integrated rail connectivity in the Klang Valley.

The Opposition-led government had conducted and recalibrated and reviewed several major projects sanctioned by the Barisan Nasional government during its time in power.
