Ninth annual North Coast Business Expo returns to Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, Ohio – As with so many other events in the past two years, the annual North Coast Business Expo was on hiatus during the height of the pandemic.

But the showcase was back in business Thursday (May 5) at Ahern’s Banquet Center in Avon Lake.

About 50 businesses came to show off their wares. The free business networking event was a joint effort of the City of Avon Lake and the North Coast Chamber of Commerce. It is always open to the public.

Ted Esborn, Avon Lake’s economic development director, coordinated the event.

“Along with taking in the many exhibits and talking with business owners and representatives, the Expo offers attendees several giveaways and raffle prizes, music (with a DJ) and entertainment, plus free food samples from local eateries,” Esborn said.

“The Business Expo presents a tremendous opportunity for local businesses to engage directly with residents of Avon, Avon Lake, Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Village and nearby communities who are seeking both consumer products and professional services, particularly from local businesses,” he said.

“We’re very happy to work with the North Coast Chamber to support this ‘buy local’ theme and provide companies with a centralized venue to showcase their products and services to attract customers and help grow their businesses.”

A small sample of the diverse businesses at the expo included Wigs for Kids, Modern Video Productions, Peter Jewelers, Consultative Insurance, Main Event, Women’s Leadership Network, Waterlogic, Avon Aquatic Facility, TCDI Cybersecurity Services, Surety HR and All County Property Management.

Esborn noted that a portion of the proceeds from the expo will be donated to Avon / Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS), a responsive, community-based organization whose mission is to diminish the effects of poverty.

Last year, the expo generated $ 3,500, which the chamber donated to CRS, which is located in the Beach Park Station Plaza at 33479 Lake Road, Suite C.
