Barcelona: Manchester United have the money available to sign Frenkie de Jong
The protests against the Glazer ownership of Manchester United took on another development on Saturday as a group of supporters planned to protest outside the house of CEO, Richard Arnoldjust for him to cut them off at a local pub and explain that the club has money available to sign Frenkie de Jong.
Whilst the protests aren’t about incoming transfers, it was an important aspect into concerns at how the club has been running for almost a decade, with Arnold looking to avoid any possible confrontation outside his own residence.
After meeting the gathering of supporters in the pub, a number of topics were discussed, including the need for external financing to redevelop Old Traffordbut what was particularly striking was the candy with which Arnold spoke about transfers.
“We’re doing everything we can to close the deal [De Jong]”Arnold detailed.
“I’m telling you, the money is there for him.
“I’ve been up for days trying to get it done, the money is there but there are things standing in our way which I can’t say.”
Frenkie de Jong is incredibly comfortable with life in Barcelonaand although his performances haven’t quite reached the levels displayed with Ajax under Erik ten Hagthe midfielder doesn’t wish to leave.
Barcelonathough, appear to have other plans for him, and will be buoyed by the admission from Arnold that Manchester United aren’t bothered how much the Dutchman will cost.
“Money is not a consideration in who we want,” he added.
“It is whether the manager wants him and that they’ve actually done the work is looking if he’s a great player.
“Is it 100 or 200 million? I don’t know, you’ve got to get who you f ** king want.”
