CEDAR RAPIDS — Mo Nasraddin, owner of The Keto Kitchen in downtown Iowa City, has won the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance’s Race for the Space contest to expand to downtown Cedar Rapids.

As the first-place winner, Nasraddin will receive a $20,000 credit towards architectural design services, build-out support and business education for a new build-out. He also will get first choice for one of five properties available for build-out downtown.

“This money will allow us to open our ground zero location in downtown Cedar Rapids,” Nasraddin said. “Using our meal prep services, we are excited for the ability to impact thousands of lives locally and nationally.”

Nasraddin’s restaurant concept accommodates a variety of lifestyles and diets including keto, gluten free, Whole 30, paleo, vegetarian, vegan and low carbohydrate diets. His first location in Iowa City opened March 2021.

The annual contest is funded by the downtown self-supporting municipal improvement district.
