Jazz Acquire Multiple Players and Future Draft Assets

Team sends Rudy Gobert to Minnesota in exchange for Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Leandro Bolmaro, the draft rights to Walker Kessler, Jarred Vanderbilt, future draft picks and a draft swap

The Utah Jazz have acquired guards Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Leandro Bolmaro, the draft rights to center Walker Kessler and forward Jarred Vanderbilt, along with future draft picks and a draft swap from the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for center Rudy Gobert, pending the outcome of successful physicals.

Beasley (6-4, 196, Florida State) is entering his seventh NBA season and averaged 12.1 points on 37.7 percent from three, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 79 games (18 starts) during the 2021-22 season. Originally drafted in the first round (19th overall pick) in the 2016 NBA Draft, Beasley spent the first four seasons of his career with Denver (2016-20) and three seasons with Minnesota (2019-22). His 2.7 threes per game off the bench in 2021-22 were tied for first most by a reserve in the NBA.

Beverley (6-1, 180, Arkansas) will enter his 11th season in 2022-23, having appeared in 526 games (438 starts) with the Houston Rockets (2012-17), Los Angeles Clippers (2017-21) and Minnesota Timberwolves (2021-22), owning career averages of 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 27.4 minutes per contest. He earned 2016-17 All-NBA Defensive First Team honors and is a two-time All-NBA Defensive Second Team selection (2013-14, 2019-20). Prior to the NBA, the Chicago-native spent time overseas playing with Dnipro of the Ukrainian Super League (2008-09), Olympiacos of the Greek Basketball League (2009-10) and Spartak St. Petersburg of the Russian Super League (2011-12), being named the EuroCup MVP in 2011-12.

Bolmaro (6-6, 200, Argentina) is entering his second NBA season and was originally drafted by New York in the first round (23rd overall) in the 2020 NBA Draft and was acquired by Minnesota on Draft Night. The 21-year-old began his professional career in 2017-18 with Weber Bahia Estudiantes of Liga A in Argentina and from 2019-21 played for FC Barcelona of the ACB in Spain. He has represented the Argentinean Senior National Team twice at the 2021 Olympic Games and 2021 Americas World Cup Qualifier.

Kessler (7-1, 245, Auburn) was drafted by Minnesota in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft (22nd overall). During his final collegiate season at Auburn, the 20-year-old averaged 11.4 points on 60.8 percent from the field, 8.1 rebounds, 4.6 blocks and 1.1 steals in 34 games (all starts), being named to the 2021-22 All-SEC First Team and All-SEC Defensive Team, also earning 2021-22 SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Vanderbilt (6-9, 214, Kentucky) enters his fourth NBA season in 2022-23, coming off a career-best season where he averaged 6.9 points, 8.4 boards, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 25.4 minutes per contest. The 23-year-old was originally drafted by the Orlando Magic in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft (41st overall) and spent two seasons with the Denver Nuggets (2018-20) and three with Minnesota (2019-22).

Gobert (7-1, 256, France) played in nine seasons with the Jazz, being named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year three times (2017-18, 2018-19, 2020-21) and an NBA All-Star three times (2020, 2021, 2022), also earning All-NBA Defensive First Team in six-straight seasons (2017-22), All-NBA Second Team in 2016-17 and All-NBA Third Team three times (2019, 2020, 2021 ).

Gobert was acquired by Utah via trade with Denver on Draft Night after being selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft and appeared in 611 games (519 starts) as a Jazzman, owning career averages of 12.4 points on 65.3 percent from the field , 11.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.2 blocks in 30.0 minutes per contest.

In the Jazz record books, Gobert ranks first in field goal percentage (.653), second in total rebounds (7,119), defensive rebounds (5,096), offensive rebounds (2,023) and point-rebound double-doubles (351), third in blocks (1,357) and 10th in points (7,592).
