Greece – Moldova Tighten Ties in Tourism

Greece and Moldova agreed this week to strengthen ties in tourism with joint actions that will boost tourist flows between the two countries, said Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki.

Zacharaki met with the parliamentary Greece-Moldova Friendship Group to discuss among others ways to enhance cooperation in tourism with a focus on joint actions in wine, wellness and religious tourism as well as the organization of fam trips and workshops for tourism professionals of the two countries.

The minister and representatives of the group also underlined the importance of increasing connectivity and flight frequency between Greece and Moldova which will help achieve goals set.

Zacharaki also stressed the importance that Greece places on its ties with Moldova, making special reference both to the Greeks who live there and to the Moldovans who live in Greece.

Representatives of the group said they hoped to gain valuable knowhow from Greece’s expertise in matters of cultural tourism and tourism guide policies, and expressed their gratitude for Greece’s long-term support of Moldova’s European aspirations.

The meeting was attended by Moldova parliament members Larisa Novak and Sergiu Lazarenko.
