Public school students will be returning to campus on Wednesday, and drivers are reminded that they must stop for school buses, or they could face a $300 fine.
Drivers from all directions must come to a complete stop when approaching a school bus that stops to pick up or drop off students — regardless of whether students are crossing the road.
Even if the bus is on the other side of the road, you must stop until the stop-arm is retracted and the bus resumes moving, unless the bus driver signals you to proceed.
School bus drivers are required to display the vehicle’s red, four-way flashing signal lights and the stop-arm on their side.
