Climate change activists Just Stop Oil to host Brixton talks on Tues 9th and Thurs 11th August 2022 – Brixton Buzz

Campaign group Just Stop Oil are hosting two talks next week on how ‘direct action can save us from Climate Crisis.’

The first talk is at the Trinity Arms on Tuesday 9th August, followed by Thursday 11th August at the Advocacy Academy.

They told Brixton Buzz

Just Stop Oil is a coalition of groups working together to ensure that the government commits to ending all new licenses and consents for the exploration, development and production of fossil fuels in the UK.

Brixton is consistently one of the most polluted areas of London. It is the government’s inaction on climate change that is putting the health and livelihood of the community aside so that oligarchs and Shell & BP gain billions in profits.

We will not allow the government to destroy our futures any longer. Just Stop Oil wants justice for the people of Brixton, and it wants justice for the people living on this dying earth.

We already have more oil and gas than we can afford to burn.

Let’s get on with ending our reliance on fossil fuels completely: by powering ahead with renewables and cutting energy demand; by insulating Britain and rethinking how we travel; and by ensuring that no one is left behind and everyone’s voice is heard.
