City of Ridgeland schedules fall events

Fall is in full swing in the City of Ridgeland with the fall banners on display and a handful of events planned celebrating the change in season.

On the first official day of fall, September 22, the new fall banners began being installed – the final new seasonal design to be revealed. The banner represents a fall morning in Ridgeland with a sunrise at the overlook point, deer and wildlife moving about and fishermen on the reservoir.

“The banners depict a crisp fall morning with fishermen and deer moving about near Overlook Point off the Natchez Trace Parkway,” Ridgeland’s Recreation and Parks Sponsorships and Marketing Coordinator Rachel Collier said.

The first event taking place this season will be the Cycle Out Kids Cancer Bike Ride this upcoming weekend on Saturday, October 8 at 7:30 am at the Renaissance at Colony Park.

“This bike ride supports the Center for Blood Disorders and Cancer,” Collier said. “There are various distances for riders, a kids ride and a tailgate theme. It is a fun day to ride a bike for a good cause!”

The Mayor’s Fun Walk will be Wednesday, October 12 at the Ridgeland Recreational Center. The walk is available to everyone and will begin at 9 am

“This walk is led by Mayor Gene McGee and encourages our Senior Adult community to stay active,” Collier said.

Finally, the city will host Trunk or Treat on Thursday, October 27 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Freedom Ridge Park. Admission is $5 per child.

“Children 10 and under are encouraged to dress up in costume and trick or treat for candy from car trunk to car trunk,” Collier said.

To get involved and stay up to date with these events and more in Ridgeland, visit Ridgeland Recreation and Parks’ Facebook page.

“We want our citizens to enjoy activities in their city and have the opportunity to meet each other in a fun environment,” Collier said. “Ridgeland Recreation and Parks has over 10 events annually. Event information is found on our Facebook page, Ridgeland Recreation and Parks, in Ridgeland Life Magazine and the web page, www.ridgelandms.org/calendar.”
