Award winning ‘low calorie’ Liverpool wine company now in America

A Liverpool wine company that specializes in low calorie vegan Prosecco and Sparkling Rosé has launched in America.

ThinK Wines was first created by Liverpool entrepreneur Katherine Jones in 2019. Since then, the company has won six awards, the most recent being Silver in the People’s Choice Wine Awards.

The company has now gone global, with Americans being able to get their hands on ThinK Wines. Speaking to the ECHO a few days before jetting off to the USA, Katherine said: “I could not have imagined this when we first launched. I’ve got big visions and I am confident in the product, so I’ve always seen it going worldwide, but I did not think it would happen in this timeframe.

“I thought ThinK Wines would need at least five years to conquer the UK before we could even go abroad. Two months ago we launched in New York, New Jersey, California and Florida. I’m now going over to LA to meet the bars that stock ThinK and to meet potential new customers.

“I’m also going to New York where I’ve got a couple of speaking engagements with women in business, and I’m hoping to sell the wine to a few New York venues. Then, it’s on to Florida. It seems that, especially in California, there is real high demand for a product like mine. I just can not miss this opportunity.

“It’s all about building a relationship with the people who are going to be selling the wine in America. That’s the bit I’m excited for. When I see people over there ordering it, that’ll be a real pinch myself moment. ”

Katherine originally created ThinK Wines for herself. She explained: “I’ve always battled with my weight and sugar is a huge demon for me. My background is influencer marketing, so I used to go to launch events and meet influencers and the welcome drink would be Prosecco or Champagne. It would be extra dry and full of sugar, so I would drink it and not particularly enjoy it, plus it would be full of calories.

“I thought, imagine if you could create a drink that was still delicious but contained way less sugar. I did some research and could not find any, then eventually I found just one, but it did not taste great. That’s how the idea for ThinK Wines started, because I thought if there’s only one competitor and I know it’s not top quality, then I should go for it. “

The fact that ThinK Wines is also vegan as well as low calorie is a big selling point for the product. Katherine said: “Everyone’s asking for vegan produce now, and every time I’m selling to a wholesaler, the first thing they ask me is, ‘is it vegan?’ I’m just so grateful that when we were creating this a few years ago, I made it vegan. I’m not personally vegan, so I could have easily thought it was not necessary, but I anticipated that the world would go in this way. I am trying to cut down on my chicken-eating ways! ”

Once Katherine has conquered America, it’ll be onto the next country. She told the ECHO: “I’d love to do Australia next. They’re very health conscious and I know they like their bubbles as well. To be honest, there’s nowhere I would not like to see ThinK! “
