AC’s Hispanic Student Association invites the community to several events as part of Hispanic Heritage Month

Amarillo College’s Hispanic Student Association is inviting the community to a trio of special events in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The family friendly events, hosted at AC’s Washington Street Campus, are open to the public for all to enjoy, celebrate and learn about the Hispanic culture.

Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, and it is designed to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic-American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. The 2022 theme is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.”

“The theme across the country is inclusivity and the goal with our organization here at Amarillo College is to bring awareness to the community of this beautiful culture that we are very fortunate to be a part of. In addition to that we want to make sure that everyone on our campus and in the community, Hispanic or not, knows about our culture and feels welcome to join us in the festivities as we try to bring awareness and education to the community,” said Nancy Farren, AC HSA sponsor.

AC's Hispanic Student Association invites the community to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with festivities including a family fun night, a food truck frenzy and more.

The HSA’s will kick off their events with “La Cultura Hispana es Familia” a family fun night that will feature Folklórico dancers, Hispanic heritage crafts including piñata making, a photo booth, face painting, games and an elote (corn) bar. The event is free and open to the public from 6 to 8 pm Friday, Sept. 23, at the Oeschger Family Mall located around the Clock Tower.
