4 Inland Empire students complete Bank of America Student Leaders internship program – Daily Bulletin

Four Inland Empire high school juniors and seniors have recently completed the Bank of America Student Leaders summer internship program, working with nonprofit organizations.

They are Anahy Castaneda of Chaffey High School, Ontario, who served her internship with Hope Through Housing in Rancho Cucamonga; Samar Farooqi of Riverside STEM Academy, who interned with the Riverside Art Museum; Isabelle Prittie of Rialto, a student at International Polytechnic High School, who worked with Hope Through Housing, Rancho Cucamonga; and Abraham Sanchez of Banning High School, who worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass.

The students were chosen for the program based on their leadership, background, passion and commitment to community, according to a news release.

In the eight-week internship program, the students earned $17 per hour and each received a Chromebook and had opportunities to participate in in-person activities.

“Bank of America is steadfast in our commitment to supporting teens and young adults by connecting them to jobs, community engagement opportunities and leadership development,” Bansree Parikh, president of Bank of America Inland Empire, said in the news release. “These students are the future of the Inland Empire, which is why programs like Student Leaders are one way we can provide paid opportunities for them to gain positive employment experience while developing a diverse pipeline of talent as they enter our local workforce.”

Started in 2004, the Student Leaders program recognizes 300 community-focused high school juniors and seniors from across the United States every year.

In addition to their internships, the Inland Empire-based Student Leaders have participated in a virtual Leadership Summit, delivered in partnership with the Close Up Foundation.
